USA CB Bands Were widely pirated in the UK in the late 70's to
early 80's until legalised on an entirely different set of
Frequencies and using Narrow FM (called: CB27/81), You might
still find the odd user still on these frequencies but
probably using SSB (Single Side Band) for DX'ing around the
world. After much pressure the Government reluctantly
allocated the Band to the UK but decided to keep the NFM mode
instead of the AM mode that the USA used. Update: - 2015 It Is
Now Legal To Use AM & Sideband (USB/LSB) On Both UK Band
Allocations, But It Is Still Illegal To Do So On CB Radios
That Do Not Confirm To British Standards, That Means You Still
Cannot Legally Use Your Old Americn CB Radios.
